The New Magento Commerce Solution

Magento has recently announced a free 30-day trial for the Magento Commerce (Cloud) solution. Now if you aren’t on Magento 2 already, it’s not likely that you’ll have a site completely built in 30 days, but it can lessen the initial financial burden. This offer is truly tuned for those of you who have already made the switch to Magento 2 Open Source (formerly Community) and see the value in all the new offerings being incorporated in to Magento 2 Commerce Pro (formerly Enterprise) such as the B2B Suite, Bluefoot CMS, and Business Intelligence.

Instead of only offering a yearly license, Magento is positioning itself as a monthly subscription that also includes hosting. It is competitively priced to appeal to merchants who may have been considering Shopify Plus. Magento Commerce, FKA Magento Cloud, eliminates the need for your own servers, but contains the same functions. Unlike Shopify, which is SaaS that is limited in its customization, Magento Commerce is PaaS, platform as a service. Magento developers can still create custom sites with all the necessary functionalities. The monthly fee is easier on merchants than paying the one-time annual fee, and the free trial offers access to the source code and some Enterprise elements.

Subscription services for products have been increasing in the last few years, and subscription-based software has been on the rise as well. With Magento Commerce PaaS, merchants can decide what features are most important to them, and select the best Magento option for their needs. Those who begin with the Starter package can easily upgrade to the Pro plan later.

The Starter package begins at $1,999 per month and includes constant email support, cloud hosting and deployment, and core features such as catalog management, support for global sites, and SEO. The Pro package starts at $3,399 per month and includes these features, as well as Magento Business Intelligence, the B2B suite, dedicated hardware and launch manager, and high availability infrastructure.

The total cost of the chosen solution is based on AOV and yearly revenue. The Starter plan is supported for those with 50,000 effective SKUs, while the Pro plan is for 100,000+ effective SKUs. Starter has one configuration, while Pro has Small through Extra Large.

If you’ve been considering running your eCommerce store on Magento, or want to upgrade from Community to Enterprise, the 30-day free trial is a great way to experience the Magento platform without the commitment.
