9 Content Ideas for November

The holiday shopping season is right around the corner! Here are 9 content ideas to help engage customers and ramp up holiday sales.

1. Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 24. Almost any type of retailer can find a way to incorporate Thanksgiving into their content marketing mix. From historical info about the holiday to recipe ideas to table décor, there are plenty of options. This is also prime time to remind shoppers of the deals your store will be offering that day or throughout the upcoming holiday shopping season. Finally, don’t forget to take this time to thank customers for their purchases and loyalty.

2. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Debuting on November 18, this movie is a spin-off of the Harry Potter series. Reach out to millions of HP fans with makeup looks, fashion finds, décor ideas, and more inspired by the new movie. For more info, check out the official trailer.

3. Football
The NFL season continues throughout November, with the game played on Thanksgiving Day being especially popular. As we noted in our content ideas for September, the majority of Americans are pro football fans, so this is a large market to tap into. Apparel and athletic gear retailers can easily take advantage of this idea, but sports language and team concepts can be used in almost any industry.

4. Veterans Day
Veteran’s Day is on Friday, November 11. Thanks veterans for their service and let them know of any discounts or free items you are offering. Depending on the type of company, some info about the history of Veteran’s Day or the story of an employee who is a veteran may be acceptable. Just stay away from gimmicks and keep it simple and sincere.

5. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday
As the biggest shopping days of the year, it goes without saying that no retailer can afford to ignore content for these dates. Advertise all of your sales and deals, promote shopping guides, do a social media blowout, and finish up email campaigns. Remind customers of your shipping policy, promote your business hours, and stay engaged on social media.

6. Giving Tuesday
Following Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a worldwide day of giving back to the local community. This can be done through monetary donations, volunteering, or advocacy. Do a company community service project, offer customers the chance to donate at checkout, or encourage customers to share photos on your social media of how they are giving back.

7. No-Shave November
No-Shave November is designed to promote cancer awareness and raise funds for prevention and research. The campaign encourages participants to stop shaving during the month of November and instead donate those hair maintenance expenses. Share photos on social of the beards or mustaches your employees are rocking, start an internal fundraising campaign, and encourage others to participate.

8. Election Day
Politics can obviously be a tricky and divisive subject, so approach this topic with caution. Focus on being inclusive of all your customers, incorporate some humor, and be careful about taking any sides.
